I’ll (Eliacín) be participating of the New Monasticism’s School For Converstion in San Francisco on February 3-5. The School will take place in Church of the Sojourners.

School for Conversion New Monasticism
The Holy Spirit seems to be blowing now, as in other eras, to give life to new communities of monastic-type discipleship. We are grateful for the fresh wind and the new way of life God has made possible. It is good news that we want to share. At the same time, we have been overwhelmed in recent months by the interest in this movement from pastors, professors, national magazines, publishers, students, and other seekers. In the midst of all this, we have discerned a call to establish a School for Conversion (SFC).

Kingdom Essentials

In Communities, household economics, kigndom, mustard seed house, thoughts, values on January 26, 2007 at 6:24 pm

One of the most valuable things that some of us (Rosarios & Sines) did together last year was discuss the essentials of God’s kingdom values and how they should shape our community. We came up with a list of the kingdom values we want to live out – and wrote those up as the diagram below. It is a long list I know (which makes me wonder if slow living is really possible) but more than anything we want to see how we can live out these values in our lives and community.

Out of this foundation we then talked about what these essentials mean for us as a community. We recognize that how this is lived out will look different for all of us but we are very serious about making sure that our lives and our community do reflect these values. We want to live with intentionality. As you can see we came up with some great diagrams and as you can see our emphasis is on celebration, sustainable living, concern for the marginalized, hospitality, nurturing relationships and developing a rhythm for our lives that flows out of our spirituality. So if you come to Seattle we would love to see you.

Mustard Seed House

In Communities, In the House on January 16, 2007 at 8:57 pm

Mustard Seed House is our expression of Christ Kingdom in Seattle. Ours is an intergenerational intentional Christian community from by 2 married couples, a cute preschooler, a newborn baby boy,  3 young women in their mid-20’s and a playful golden retriever.

We are in the midst of conversation and prayer in order to live more fully and intentional as a community.

We share different responsibilities around the house. We eat together every Sunday and include an spiritual element to our night. Sunday’s are also a night to check on each other and discuss community related issues. In any given day you can find some of us chatting over coffee or working in our garden, which provide about 70% of the fruits and vegetables we consume. Ours is an Christian ecumenical community formef by quakers, anglicans and evangelicals.
