Learning from the Celtic Saints

Click here for more information and registration
Celtic Christianity has gained tremendous popularity over the last few years. People of many traditions are intrigued by the Celtic saints who led this flourishing movement from 4th through 8th centuries. They were described as God intoxicated people who lived with an intense sense of the presence of God. All of life and all of creation were embraced by the triune God whom they believed walked with them throughout life’s journey.
The invigorating prayers and traditions of this movement continue to inspire people today. Come and learn from the Celtic saints and see how this wonderful Christian tradition can enrich and empower your spiritual life. Find a new intimacy between your prayers and your everyday life as you explore the many examples of prayer that under girded the lives of these dynamic ancient followers of Jesus.

Green Time

Evidently it is not just depression that is improved by time out in the garden either.  Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) may be improved dramatically when a child spends time outside before attempting to work on homework.  Read more

The Rosarios Are Back and So Are the Swallows

In gardening on May 2, 2007 at 3:16 am

Swallows under eavesFriday morning I noticed the barn swallows that nest under the eaves over the summer were back.  Then in the evening we picked up Ricci, Eliacin, Catie and Gabriel from the airport.  Maybe the 2 events are not really connected but in some ways the swallows are as much a part of our community as the people that live in it.  They come every year and their numbers are growing as the offspring from the first few seasons are also returning to nest.  Unfortunately one pair chose the spot just above our front door for their nest and we didn’t realize it until it was full of eggs.  By the end of the season the bird droppings were everywhere.  However it did not seem to deter our many visitors and I definitely noticed there were less wasps and mosquitos around.  Evidently a nesting barn swallow eats up to 8000 insects a day – better than any sophisticated electronic zapper I ever heard of and definitely more beautiful.
